Arta Raituma (born 1996) is a multimedia visual artist from Latvia currently residing and working in Lisbon, Portugal. In her artistic practice, she focuses on exploring the sublime in nature, rites of passage, and threshold situations. Raituma engages in creative placemaking, working with communities and investigating the fragility of relationships that can manifest as invasive, co-dependent, or symbiotic interactions between natural and urban environments and their inhabitants.

The core medium of Raituma’s daily practice is wood burning, using experimentally developed techniques often combined with painting and organic materials as complementary elements for on-site installations. Additionally, she incorporates documentary photography and performance to create a concurrent narrative that aims to alchemize materials and perception. In her latest works, Arta has been developing a cinematic language through collaborations with filmmakers.
